Early Christmas with Oma and Pops

This past weekend my folks came into town to celebrate an early Christmas with us. It was perfect timing in that my mother arrived on Wednesday just in time for me to get the stomach flu. I don't know what I would have done without her help with the kids! Then on Sunday, Bekah came down with croup and now Bryant has croup. Even though we had lots of sickness in our household, we still had a great time with Oma and Pops and were SO GRATEFUL for all of their help!

Bekah is at a stage right now where it feels nearly impossible to get a picture of her. Once the camera comes out, she turns away from it, runs away or just looks mad. Bryant, on the other hand, works it for the camera.

Happy St. Nicholas' Day

Today is St. Nicholas' Day, so Bekah and Bryant put their wooden shoes outside their bedroom doors last night. After putting her shoes out and going to bed, Bekah came out of her room around 8:30pm with a very sad look on her face and said, "Mommy, St. Nicholas didn't come. I kept calling for him and looking for him in the clouds, but he did not come." Eventually, she went back to bed. When she woke up this morning, she burst into our room screaming, "St. Nicholas Came!!!" Thanks to my mom and aunt, the kids got Christmas pjs, stickers, ornaments, chocolates and some Christmas clothes.

Mary and Joseph

Yesterday, Bekah had her friend, Elliott, over to play. I overheard Bekah say to Elliott "You are Joseph and I am Mary and this is our baby Jesus." When I came around the corner, they were sitting on the stairs with blankets on their heads pretending to be Joseph and Mary. While it cracked me up, it also thrilled me that Bekah is starting to pick up on the story of Jesus!!!

A few minutes after catching "Joseph" and "Mary," I then heard Bekah say, "Baby Jesus is hungry." This time when I came around the corner "Mary" was feeding "Jesus." :)

Watchu Said?

Sometimes when Bekah does not hear something we said she says "Watchu said?" So Nelson has been bugging me to make posts that we call "Watchu said?" and tell silly things that Bekah says. Of course, now that I am sitting down to write this, I am having trouble thinking of examples. I wish I was better about writing these things down!!!
1. We were driving to church and Bekah saw some sprinklers spraying water. I told her they were sprinklers and she said, "Mom, they need to go away because it is fall and not spring. "Spring-lers" are for spring and not for fall."
2. When she and Bryant grow up "Bryant will be a prince and I will be a princess. And then we will get married."
More to come as I remember them...

Happy Fall Y'All

I think that fall is my favorite season - fall colors, pumpkin candles and lattes, gorgeous leaves, hot air balloons, kids running through piles of leaves, crisp air, bright blue skies, the smell of muffins baking... We spent this Thanksgiving with friends gobbling up turkey and stuffing. Of course, all that Bekah wanted was pumpkin pie. We fed Bryant sweet potatoes and green beans baby food so he could feel Thanksgivingy too.
